"Her ghost came to me one night, long after she was gone, and told me her story on the dead railroad line"
lyrics
Come here sweet Conny, sit down on my knees
Come here sweet Conny, right on your papa knees
I want you to tell me your story, sweet Conny if you please
spoken: and she started to tell me about her life and those railroads too
Conny: Have you ever been sleeping papa, on a dead railroad line (x2)
concrete to be your pillow, red lights to be your moonshine
spoken: and I used to hear those morning trains running by, but none was
going my way, none was going back home, they use to come up like this,
listen the train a-running and the whistle blowing to...here's the train a-
runnin'...and the whistle blowin' too...guitar as a train
I've been on the game, papa, since I left my mama home (x2)
I've been rolling and I've been tumbling, drifting from door to door
spoken: and she started to tell me about her crying child and the song she
used to sing...guitar as a carillon
Conny sings: “oh my child, please don't cry, mama will drive away
mosquitos and flies, she will kiss your rosy chicks, glove your hands and
shoe your little feet...yeah...”
Nigeria farewell, I'm gon' die on a dead railroad line...repeat 'till the end...
